About: Do you find the start of writing sessions challenging? Do you lack time to write regularly or find it difficult to be creative when you are pulled out of your usual routine? Then this could be the workshop for you. During the pandemic, Dilys found herself in lockdown in a new country, burnt out and unable to write. She turned to Japanese short-form poems, scribbling them down haikuu, senryu and tanka onto scraps of paper or the back of envelopes. These quick, unedited ‘warm-up poems’ were then photographed or decorated, creating makeshift haiga. Part-journal, part-collage, these poems helped her find her way back to creativity and play, and are still a cornerstone of her writing practice. In this generative workshop, aimed at poets and aspiring poets alike, you will write, photograph and share your own warm-up short-form poems and haiga.
